Circa 1940. Outrageous, beautifully handmade, William Spratling designed Silver and Amethyst earrings. Each earring features a conical shaped Amethyst cabochon bezel set in silver. The Amethyst stones are accented by a curved band of silver at the base with linear chasing and a stem motif. These unique design elements and amazing silver work, are what Spratling is known for and these earrings are a fine example.
Approximate measurements: 1.5 inches long x 1 inch wide.
These earring are designed so that the Amethyst stone points upward toward the ear. They secure with screw backs.
The reverse of each earring has a stamp: One is stamped "Spratling, Made in Mexico with the "WS" spratling mark in the middle. The other is marked: "Spratling Silver"
