Circa 1870. Austro Hungarian Seed Pearl and Persian Turquoise Brooch
Circa 1870. Austro Hungarian Seed Pearl and Persian Turquoise Brooch
Fantastic, Victorian era brooch featuring double rows of seed pearls alternating with rows of bezel set, cabochon Persian Turquoise stones.
A very lovely example of handmade antique pieces; the seed pearls are wired to the brooch and each Turquoise cab is individually bezel set. The back of the brooch is done in Silver and engraved with an organic design.
This brooch has a lovely patina and is certainly one of a kind.
It secures with a c-clasp. The brooch pin has a small hallmark on the reverse near the hinge identified by loop magnification: P4 (with animal head) indicating Austro Hungarian origin/ P4=Pozsony/Bratislava/Pressburg (1867-1872).
Approximate measurements: The brooch is 4 centimeters in diameter. The wreath part , where the gemstones are set, is approximately 1 centimeter wide.
